Serrano Hot Sauce Recipes
Serrano hot sauces are a great way to add heat and flavor to many dishes from a topping on grilled chicken or beef to a drizzle for soups.
Serrano hot sauces definitely have more heat than
jalapeno hot sauces but aren't nearly as hot as
habanero hot sauces
While there are hundreds of variations on the standard
serrano hot sauce recipe the majority of them share several steps.
Serrano Pepper Hot Sauce Steps

1) Combine different ingredients to create a complementary undertone that will run through the serrano hot sauce and compliment the flavor of the peppers. Often these ingredients are onion, carrot, celery, other chile peppers, garlic and spices. Sometimes these ingredients are also sauteed, grilled, or roasted to bring out even more of their flavor.
2) Remove the stems and roughly chop the serrano peppers. Sometimes you'll also remove the seeds but this is mainly a matter of preference.
3) Put the serrano peppers and base ingredients into a blender, add a liquid, and blend until it is smooth. The liquid will normally be a vinegar or citrus juice.
4) Simmer the mixture on the stove for a few minutes, until the flavors of the serrano hot sauce are combined and the sauce is the consistency you want.
5) Add to your favorite food and enjoy!
Every
serrano hot sauce recipe goes with different foods and has different flavors so make several of the sauces and see what you like best.
